This course also includes topics designed to help the child to understand Turkey and Turkish culture better. Module 3 also comes with two variations; offered optionally for children aged 4-7 and 8-12 years. All units include learning objectives related to the four basic language skills of reading, writing, listening and speaking. The children are given free choice of exercises for reading and writing skills. As with Module 1 and Module 2, grammar rules are implicitly presented in context. At the end of the Turkish4Children Module 3 course, the children will be able to use basic language structures freely and understandably.

COURSE COMPONENTS

  1. Videos

All lessons include instructional videos recorded in a professional studio environment. The teacher introduces the topic of the lesson, gives the learning goals in context, encourages the students to pronounce and repeat the words and sentences using body language, gestures and facial expressions, motivates the students to participate in front of the screen and asks questions. Furthermore, it should be noted that some videos contain dialogue recordings with child actors and that the average attention span of the respective age group was taken into account for the duration of the videos.

  1. Interactive Videos

Interactive videos are mainly used to activate the child in front of the screen and to motivate them to participate. Here, what has been learned is deepened in a playful way and at the same time expanded with additional information. The video automatically pauses at certain seconds and the student is asked to complete various exercises before continuing with the interactive video.

  1. Online Activities

Each unit has many goal-oriented online activities. Children practice this in a playful way and do not even notice how much they have actually learned. Memory card game, listen and find!, you say it!, true or false?, sequence game, you write! Puzzle, Flashcards, Repeat after! are just a few examples. In this way, the children repeat and deepen what they have learned and also discover new terms and structures.

  1. Songs and Stories

Each module contains Turkish songs and audio stories for kids. They mainly serve as supporting learning material on the course topics and learning objectives of the units. Some songs were specially composed by Turkish4all. Others have been selected from popular Turkish songs with the aim of introducing Turkish children’s songs. The stories were either written by Turkish4all according to the language level or simplified by experienced Turkish as a foreign language teachers. These stories include vocabulary and structures that have already been introduced in the course, but also unfamiliar ones. The new language elements are understood and taken up by the children in context.

  1. Worksheets

Each unit contains two types of worksheets. For those students who can read and write the Turkish letters and for those who cannot yet. The worksheets are uploaded in PDF format and can be printed out with the help of the parents. By working on the worksheets, the child can practice and learn the topic on paper. The worksheets should also serve to ensure that the child is not occupied in front of the screen for too long.

  1. Tests

At the end of the units there are quizzes that the child can use to test themselves in a fun way. The aim is to prepare the child for the quiz rule, which is used as a short intermediate test in foreign language classes, and to help them to better assess themselves. There are also two different types of online tests. The first (4-7 years) and the second (8-12 years) target different language skills. We would recommend that you look at both types of tests and, if possible, try both tests.

  1. Live Online Lessons (Zoom)

All of our students can take part in our live online classes via Zoom every Saturday for 6 months. These are based on the order of the lessons and offer the children the opportunity to ask their questions directly to the teacher and, of course, to get to know other children from around the world. In order to receive a zoom invitation, we ask parents to write an email to info@turkish4.com and state the age of the child and the module (1-2-3) taken. Online classes for 4-7 year olds and 8-12 year olds start at different times. Parents who feel the child needs private lessons or group lessons for max. 4 participants can write to info@turkish4.com and inquire about our other courses.

  1. Evaluation at the end of the course (30 minutes / Zoom)

We do not think it is pedagogically appropriate for children in this age to carry out a final examination. Instead, we offer a Zoom meeting with our experienced teachers if requested. The teacher carries out the assessment in a pleasant atmosphere and then reports the result to the parents. This is an optional option and requires an appointment via email.

  1. Certificate of Attendance

All children who have completed the 10 units of the course will receive a certificate of participation in PDF format. The certificates contain no information about the child’s success. They serve as a means of promoting learning motivation and as a souvenir of the Turkish course. At the request of the parents, the above-mentioned online evaluation can be made at the end of the course.
